philosophy
For many years, I thought teaching is simply a process of sharing. Since living in Hawaii from 2004, I have taught and provided training workshop in many school and organizations, such as Kapiolani Community College, Mckinley Adult School, St. Clement preschool, Angels At Play preschool, Tzi Chi Foundation, Honolulu Chinese Alliance Church, etc.
As I learned from process of teaching in different places, I found the more I teach, the more I need to learn how to teach. Teaching is not simply sharing information, it also contains how to teach in different subject to different audience.
Lastly, I believe learning how to teach is as important as to learning all technology tools for classroom. We can not never catch up how fast the technology develops, but we can control how to use the technology by using the correct teaching method.

Goal
My current goal for ETEC is to learn how to teach effectively with technology in the classroom. I truly believe technology is just the tool, and the teaching method is the key.
My future goal for the field of education is to produce an language learning software to integrate with music and multi-media technology. It will be on the smartphone too!

Reflection on my FIRST semester as an ETEC student
I have a strong tech and multi-media background to start the first year of ETEC study, but I have to say: the first semester of ETEC is not easy, especially ETEC600. It is a challenge to me that I don't know a lot of concepts in instructional design field. We have a lot of classmates work in education field, such as K-12 and high educational. I did feel a bit left behind as I am not working in the education field.
The main thing I learned thought out the first semester is "Never stop learning." After graduate from Communication School at UH Manoa in 2008, I had been working in and out of education field for five years. It surprised me when I saw there are a lot of new technology can be used in the classroom.
But technology is just the tool for teaching. I really learned a lot during the two classes within this semester: I learned a lot on Instructional Design skills at ETEC600, and the ETEC602 opened my eyes to many new technology that can be use for education, both in and out of classroom.
Lastly, I want to say: Thank you to all my classmates who provide help to me during this semester, especially my teammates: Coby, Madeline and Mya.
